Welcome! Studio 1 Pilates offers a more personal approach to your fitness and wellbeing. Whether you're a competitive athlete or just starting your fitness journey, you will learn the STOTT PILATES® Method in a friendly environment, in which your individual concerns are heard and addressed.
Offering private or semi-private training with a full line of STOTT PILATES® equipment, including Reformers, Cadillac, Stability Chairs, and Barrels, as well as a variety of personal training equipment, you'll be well on your way help you achieve your mind-body fitness goals.
Zoom and FaceTime Online Classes
During this time of social distancing, to protect our clients from Covid-19, we have moved all classes to being led online via Zoom or FaceTime. If you have a regular private or semi-private session, we will continue those classes at your normal time slot over the application of your preference. All group classes will now be conducted via Zoom. If you are interested in joining any classes, please contact us. Once we have received your payment, you will be sent a link to join the class.
Group Class Schedule
Studio 1 Pilates is a fully equipped Pilates studio, offering Mat classes incorporating a wide variety of equipment such as Fitness balls, BOSU's, foam rollers, Fitness Circles, and Toning Balls. We also offer private or semi-private classes on more traditional Pilates apparatus such as the Cadillac, Reformer, Stability Chair, and Barrels. Prices vary depending on the equipment used and whether you choose to train in private or semi-private sessions.
Julie Anderton, B.F.A., A.R.A.D.
Julie began her dance training in Ottawa, Canada where she trained in ballet, jazz and tap and received her Advanced certificate from the Royal Academy of Dancing. She then continued her dance studies in ballet and contemporary dance at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where she received her B.F.A. in Dance (cum laude). Julie pursued her professional dance career in the United States, and England as well as working on cruise ships.
While in England she became certified as a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at Central Manchester College. Upon returning to Ottawa, Julie began her teacher training in the Stott Pilates method. She is a fully certified Stott Pilates Instructor, meaning she is trained in all of the Pilates apparatus as well as the mat work.
Julie is also certified in Total Barre™ and Zumba, and loves to be able to combine her passion for dance and fitness together in these classes. Julie has also been studying more about Fascia and its effect on our well being and movement patterns, and is certified in ZEN•GA™, and the Roll Model Method TM. Most recently she has also become certified as a Yin Yoga instructor.
Julie has been a presenter for various events, such as the 2013 Zoomer Show, the 2014 YMCA Connexions Conference, as well as her television appearances on Ottawa’s CTV Morning Live. She was thrilled to return to the Cruise Ship life while working as the Pilates Expert on the 'Lianne & Friends Awaken a Better You' wellness cruise that sailed the Danube River in October 2019.
Julie has grown a strong passion for Pilates and finds it thrilling to enable clients to develop a deeper level of body awareness and core strength while improving their overall health and lifestyle.

I was so thrilled to be part of an amazing team of experts that Lianne Laing handpicked for a Wellness Cruise like no other. In October of 2019, we set sail for a week long cruise along the Danube River, starting in Budapest and finishing in Vilshofen.
I had the wonderful experience of teaching Pilates and Fascia/Stretch classes in such beautiful settings, of exploring 5 countries I had never been to, of learning from the other amazing experts, and of growing friendships with not only our team of experts, but with fellow passengers. From all the workouts, to workshops on beauty, nutrition, relationships, meditation, essential oils, there was never a dull moment, and an experience I will cherish for a lifetime.
